In compliance with Articles 13 and 14 of EU Regulation 2016/679 “General Data Protection Regulation” (hereinafter “GDPR”), the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS provides the following information on the processing of the personal data of users who consult this website and use the services offered through it.
1. Data Controller and Data Protection Officer
The Data Controller is the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS, with main offices in via F.lli Perini n. 93, 38122 Trento, Italy, e-mail: fondazione@pec.fondazionegentilini.it or info@fondazionegentilini.it.

2. Means of processing
Personal data are processed using manual and/or electronic means exclusively by personnel authorized to process data in relation to the tasks and duties assigned to them and in compliance with the principles of lawfulness, fairness, transparency, adequacy, relevance and necessity.
The website carries out no profiling, tracking or statistical analysis of user behaviour, and hosts no third-party content, traffic analysis tools, social sharing buttons or advertising. The typefaces used are served from this same server and involve no request to any external server.
3. Data processed, purposes and legal bases
3.1 Browsing data
The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this website acquire, in the course of their normal operation, certain data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols: IP address, date and time of the request, address of the requested resource, browser type and operating system, and outcome of the request. These data are recorded in the server log files and are processed solely to ensure the correct functioning and security of the website and to establish liability in the event of computer offences.
Legal basis: legitimate interest of the Controller in network and information security (article 6(1), lett. f) GDPR).
3.2 Correspondence
The website hosts no contact forms. The optional sending of electronic mail to the addresses given on the website entails the acquisition of the sender’s address and of any personal data contained in the message, processed solely in order to reply to the request and to deal with the matters arising from it.
Legal basis: performance of a task carried out in the public interest connected with the institutional purposes of the Controller (article 6(1), lett. e) GDPR).
3.3 Members’ area of the Historical Archive
Access to the databases of the Historical Archive is reserved to researchers accredited by the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS. There is no self-registration procedure: accreditation is requested by writing to the office of the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS, which considers the request and, if the outcome is favourable, opens the profile. The person concerned receives a personal, single-use link with which to choose their own password.
The following data are processed:
- first name, surname, e-mail address, telephone number and affiliation, provided by the person concerned;
- the password, stored exclusively as a non-reversible cryptographic digest (bcrypt algorithm): the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS does not know, cannot reconstruct and is not able to communicate any user’s password;
- the preferred language, the date the profile was opened, the date the password was set and the date of the last sign-in;
- the single-use links issued, likewise stored in non-reversible form, with their date of issue, expiry and use;
- unsuccessful sign-in attempts only, with the e-mail address typed, the IP address and the date, in order to limit repeated attempts to guess a password. These records are deleted automatically within twenty-four hours and are removed immediately upon a successful sign-in.
Purposes: to allow remote consultation of the archive inventories, to verify the identity of those who gain access and to ensure the security of the members’ area.
Legal basis: performance of a task carried out in the public interest connected with the institutional purposes of the Controller, which pursues cultural purposes through the historical and cultural enhancement of the documentation it preserves (article 6(1), lett. e) GDPR); as regards the records of unsuccessful sign-in attempts, the legitimate interest of the Controller in information security (article 6(1), lett. f) GDPR).
The person concerned may amend their data at any time from the “Profile” page and may delete their profile themselves, permanently, from the “Delete account” page. Deletion immediately removes all the data listed in this paragraph.
3.4 Conditions of consultation of the members’ area
Accreditation allows the personal consultation of the inventories for the purposes of study and research. It is personal and not transferable: sign-in credentials must not be passed to anyone else, and the accredited person is answerable for the use made of them. If you suspect that someone else has gained access to your profile, change your password from the “Profile” page and inform the office.
The descriptive data of the archive remain the property of the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS, which prepared the inventory. Search results may not be copied from the pages of the members’ area, nor extracted, systematically reproduced or republished, in whole or in part, on other websites or databases. Anyone wishing to have the results of a search as a PDF may request them from the office, giving the search criteria used: the search form prepares the message.
Citing individual archival units in scholarly publications is not merely permitted but welcomed, and you are asked to give the source as “Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS, Archivio Storico”, with the fonds, the series and the record number. The Foundation is glad to receive a copy of, or a reference to, publications that draw on its archive.
The reproduction of original documents, their publication, and consultation on the Foundation’s premises are subject to separate authorisation, to be agreed with the office.
The Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS may suspend or withdraw accreditation where these conditions are not observed. The provisions of the law on copyright and on cultural heritage apply in any case.
3.5 Premio Lino Gentilini
Personal data provided in the context of the Award selection procedures are processed as set out in the information notice contained in the call for each edition, to which reference is made.
4. Nature of the provision of data
The provision of the browsing data referred to in point 3.1 is implicit in the use of Internet protocols. The provision of the data referred to in points 3.2 and 3.3 is optional, but failure to provide it precludes, respectively, the possibility of receiving a reply and access to the members’ area.
5. Recipients of the data
Data are neither disseminated nor transferred to third parties for purposes of their own. They may be accessed, as data processors designated under article 28 GDPR, by the suppliers of the technical services necessary for the operation of the website, in particular the supplier of hosting and electronic mail services, established in the European Union.
Collected personal data will not be transferred to non-EU countries.
6. Retention period
- browsing data: for the time technically necessary for the security purposes indicated in point 3.1, in accordance with the arrangements of the hosting provider;
- correspondence: for the time necessary to deal with the request and the matters arising from it;
- members’ area data: for the duration of the accreditation and until the profile is deleted, whether by the person concerned or by the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS when the accreditation ceases;
- unsuccessful sign-in attempts: twenty-four hours.
In any case, data will be stored for the period required by the current legislation regarding the management and conservation of the documentation produced by the Fondazione ing. Lino Gentilini - ETS in the performance of its institutional activities.
7. Rights of the data subject
Data subjects shall exercise the rights referred to in article 15 et seq. of the GDPR at any time, and, in particular, the right of access, of rectification, of integration, of erasure, of restriction, or of processing of his/her personal data, or the right to object to processing of his/her personal data. In case of an infringement of the GDPR during the processing of personal data, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority by virtue of article 77 of the GDPR.
Requests should be addressed to the Controller or to the Data Protection Officer at the addresses given in point 1.
8. Automated decision-making
No automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of article 22 GDPR is carried out.
9. Amendments to this notice
This notice may be updated to reflect changes in legislation or in the operation of the website. The date of the latest update is given at the foot of the page.
